On Friday, March 21, 2025, the Students’ Union President, Covenant Odedele, announced via his WhatsApp status that students who were unable to pay their fees for the 2023/24 academic session should write a letter to the Dean of Students requesting an official suspension of the session, allowing them to restart in the 2024/25 academic session.
According to the announcement, the letter should be written and submitted before Wednesday, March 26, 2024 which marks the end of the session.
He mentioned that this will apply to students who are yet to pay their school fees and are unable to register their courses.
“Today makes exactly 5 days to the official end of the session, and we have received certain complaints about students who haven’t been able to pay their fees and also, register for their courses. Unfortunately, the portal is now officially closed for the 2023/2024 academic session.” The announcement stated.
“As a result, students who fall into this category are advised to write a letter through their Head of Department to the Dean of Students to officially suspend this session so that they can start afresh next l session. This should be done before Wednesday. Kindly treat as IMPORTANT & URGENT.”
Although not clearly stated, it has been inferred that students who fall under this category would lose the progress they made during the 2023/24 session.
Speaking with the President of the Students’ Union, he mentioned that an attempt to find a solution was underway.
“A lot of people never spoke up until now, so we’re trying to lobby to find a solution for those we realized had written the exams,” he told the press.
As of press time, there has been no further information as to what the fate of these students will be.
